I love television.
If binge watching was an Olympic sport, I could have been a gold medalist.
Since I became a mom my binge watching days are over. I try not to have the TV on too much around Teddy and when he naps I have too much to do around the house. If I do have the TV on I can’t really focus on what is going on, so watching anything too heavy is out of the question.
Now, I prefer television shows like I like my men… light, quick and funny (haha just kidding, that was weird…) It’s also better when the show is available on demand so I don’t have to watch it live.
Here are some of my favorite shows on television right now and it just so happens that they are all about life as a parent…

Where to watch: TBS
Produced by Jason Jones and his equally hilarious wife comedian Samantha Bee, this show chronicles the misadventures of the dysfunctional Parker family. The story of dad Nate (Jones), mom Robin (Natalie Zea) and their pre-teen twins is told through flashbacks and police questioning. Each episode you learn more about the characters and why they are being questioned by police. If this show doesn’t make you laugh then something is seriously wrong with you.
Where to watch: Amazon Prime
A man (Rob Delanie) visits London on a business trip and meets a Scottish woman (Sharon Horgan) at a bar. After an extended one-night stand she finds out she’s pregnant and they decide to raise the baby together. This show is hilarious and relatable (especially the episode where she forgets her breast pump on their romantic vacation). The best part is you can stream and binge watch all three seasons and a fourth is coming out in 2018.
Where to watch: ABC
A sitcom about the Otto family who moves to wealthy Connecticut town of Westport. The wisecracking Katie “the second fattest woman in town” refuses to conform to the typical cookie-cutter Westport mold and is determined not to let the town change her husband Greg (the guy from the Drew Carrey show) and their three children. Is it the best show on television? No, but it’s a light and funny show to watch when your brain hurts.
Where to watch: Bravo
This scripted show on Bravo is really funny but a little campy. It stars Jill Kargman, Andy Buckman (David Wallace from The Office) and SNL’s Abby Elliot. It’s about a quirky mom who married into a wealthy family. She doesn’t quite fit in with the other Upper East Side mom’s at her kids’ private school. It’s good for a laugh. Third season coming soon!
Where to watch: FX
Raunchy and hilarious female comedian Pamela Adlon (co-producer of the show Louie) stars in this show about a mom of three girls trying to make it in Hollywood as an actress and comedian. Very funny. Renewed for a second season, premiere TBD.
